About the Program
Virginia Tech is pleased to present Service-Learning Director Leadership Institute, in Roanoke, Virginia, home of the Engagement Academy for University Leaders, endorsed by AASCU, CUMU, and APLU. The Institute brings together service-learning leaders and engaged scholars, with a well-established foundation in service learning pedagogy, who seek to enhance their leadership capacities, deepen their institutional and community impact, and chart the next steps in their professional development as change agents on campus, in communities, and across the field. Together we will explore connections between cutting edge questions, thinking, and practice in community engagement and the “north stars” or the ultimate purposes that ground, guide, and give meaning to our individual and collective work. Participants will reflect on the trajectory of their own roles and responsibilities as leaders in community engagement and return to their campuses with a plan that reflects their institutional and leadership priorities that will enhance their effectiveness and be consistent with their goals, talents, and strengths.
